Collection: 2008
Unlike the 2007 vintage, the 2008 season was optimal, with a warm spring, sufficient soil moisture and a fine and dry flowering period in November-December. January was warmer than average however February was cool. The average summer temperature was 1C above normal. The autumn day temperatures were 1.5C above average but the nights were still cool, providing ideal ripening conditions for the grapes. The quality and quantity of grapes produced this year were exceptional. This year we produced our first Sparkling wine - a Blanc de Blanc made from the Chardonnay grapes, as well as a still Riesling and a Pinot noir.
The Chardonnay for sparkling was picked on on 7 March.
