Our first vintage at Broadview under the Viridian label and what an introduction to viticulture it was!
A cold but dry winter followed by a very dry spring with frosts and snow in late October. Because our vineyard is on north facing slopes adjacent to the Derwent River we suffered little frost damage. However the drought conditions with virtually no rain during the summer months resulted in reduced quantity of fruit but good quality, particularly the Pinot noir. This year we produced still wines - Riesling, Unwooded Chardonnay and Pinot noir.
The Riesling was picked on 26 March, the Pinot noir on 31 March and the Chardonnay on 6 April.
