Our Chardonnay has aromas of pears and melons which are repeated on the palate, with a pleasant acid backbone making this a light crisp refreshing wine, with or without food. Produced without the use of oak or malolactic fermentation, this wine develops a creamy texture as it ages but maintains its crisp flavour.

The 2010 season was notably warmer throughout spring, summer and autumn, but many vineyards were affected by frosts in late October. The Chardonnay produced in 2010 was excellent as a young wine and has developed into a richly flavoured wine with age. It still has cellaring potential after more than 10 years.

Our Chardonnay pairs well with lighter meats (roast chicken, pork tenderloin), soft and creamy cheese (double Brie, Camembert) and cauliflower soup.

More about this wine

2010 season

Spring was wetter than usual and the average temperature was warmer, however there were frosts in late October which again, affected many vineyards. The amount of fruit was down on the previous year due to a cooler, damp fruit-set period in the first couple of weeks of December. This was followed by hotter conditions in January. The average summer temperature was almost 2 degrees warmer (23C) than usual. The region had its warmest autumn on record, and below average rainfall.

The Chardonnay and Pinot noir were picked on 27 March and the Riesling in early April.

Preservative and allergen information

We use a small amount of sulphur-based preservative (224) in all of our wines and Verjuice to stabilise the wine and ensure a long life.

All of our still wines are packaged on a bottling line that may have traces of nut products. We do not use any nuts as part of our production process.

Our white wines may contain traces of dairy products (skim milk) remaining in the wine after the fining and filtration process.

Our red wines are vegan-friendly wines, as we do not use any animal products in their production.

Packaging and recycling information

Our sparkling wine is labelled with recyclable waterproof labels (designed to remain intact in ice buckets!) and biodegradable inks. The cap, cage (muselet), foil and glass bottle are fully recyclable.

Our natural cork stopper can be composted at home or via compost collection, or recycled through ReCork (available at select Dan Murphy’s stores across Australia).

All of our still wines are labelled with compostable paper-based labels for each varietal and a handwritten year; this allows us to eliminate duplication of labels for different vintages. The screw cap and glass bottle are fully recyclable.

We ship all of our wine using recycled cardboard packaging. Sparkling wine is packaged during bottling; still wine is packaged during order processing. You may receive different packages depending on availability. We reuse boxes from tasting events and within our storage facility.
